Poupette St Barth's expertise lies in crafting durable, high-quality pieces from delicate fabrics, aimed at enhancing the beauty of all women, while taking respect for the environment to heart.
We make it a point of honor to communicate transparently about our garments, which is why we have set up a traceability system that enables us to follow the evolution of each product and give you full visibility of its composition and manufacturing process.

RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS

As it is essential for us to create high quality dresses, we impose standards on ourselves when selecting materials and components. We are attentive to their entire value chain and the environmental impact they have during production. We analyze the life cycle of materials to document each of their specifications.

In our sourcing efforts, we’ve made significant strides in adopting preferable material standards, aiming for lower-impact materials:

We source 100% of our cotton as Better Cotton (BCI).

At Poupette St Barth, we dedicated to enhance global cotton farming practices through Better Cotton, which educates farmers on environmental care and upholds workers’ rights and wellbeing. In 2023, our sourcing of Better Cotton saved an estimated 0.3 million liters of water.

97% of our viscose comes from LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers.

The manufacturing of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibers, made from sustainably managed forests, generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic viscose. Also, CO2 emissions and fossil resource use are approximately half that of the industry average.

Today, 70% of our main fibers are certified and has lower-impact than generic ones. Our target is to get that number up to 100% by 2025.

HANDMADE QUALITY

At Poupette St Barth, our craftsmanship is evident in both our screen-printing technique and the skills of our seamstresses. Our artisans devote themselves to making screens by hand, carefully applying the motifs to the fabric with precision. This process, unlike digital printing, highlights the remarkable skill and attention to detail put into each piece.

Our seamstresses are the artists behind our intricate dresses. More than 400 of them are involved in every stage of the garment's creation, from initial sewing to final embellishments. They ensure that each piece has its own distinctive touch, illustrating the talent and care of our artisans.

By prioritizing quality over quantity and investing in timeless pieces that transcend ephemeral trends, we are committed to a more environmentally friendly slow fashion. It embodies a sustainable ethic where each garment tells the story of skilled hands, thoughtful design and a commitment to reducing fashion's impact on the environment while creating long-lasting, precious pieces.

Behind every garment lies a story of artistry, patience and passion, as our artisans infuse their expertise into every stitch and print, creating pieces that epitomize handcrafted luxury.

PRODUCT QUALITY AND SAFETY

Ensuring high product quality is an integral part of our business, from sourcing, design and production of materials. Our teams work closely together throughout production to maintain consistent quality standards at every stage.

Quality controls include comprehensive lists of measurable parameters and are supported by technologies such as the colorbox, fabric winding control machines and fabric construction control tools. These measures ensure that the products received correspond to the confirmed samples and meet our quality criteria.

To guarantee the safety and quality of our garments, our screen printers use certified dyes, which are rigorously tested for harmful chemicals within the parameters of the OEKO-TEX 100 e standard, underlining our commitment to providing safe, high-quality garments to our customers.

CIRCULARITY

Our circularity initiatives aim to maximize the life of garments and minimize the impact of unwanted clothing. We are committed to extending the life cycle of our products by selling our preloved garments, and managing our clothing waste in the production stage. Through these initiatives, we aim to give new purpose to our products while taking responsibility for minimizing the potential of fabric waste.

POUPETTE ST BARTH X TOGEAN NATURALE

As a brand created by a woman, for women, we are committed to empowering women through education and skills development.

In the past, we've donated to the Bali Wise organization to provide free education to underprivileged women. But we wanted to go further and create our own program.

That's why we teamed up with the NGO Togean Naturale to develop a program for a community of women in the north of Bali, an area not affected by major development as in the south of the island.

This collaboration resulted in a 10-day training program aimed at improving the skills of these women by training them in sewing and providing them with sewing machines. Once these women have been trained, we place monthly orders with them for upcycled accessories made from our fabric scraps.

Thanks to these opportunities, we are not only reducing fabric waste, but also creating pathways to economic independence in disadvantaged communities..

WE ARE PROUD MEMBERS OF BETTER COTTON

Poupette St Barth is committed to sourcing 100% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2024.

Better Cotton is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton is not physically traceable to end products, however, Better Cotton Farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we ‘source’.
